Okay, here goes: I met my boyfriend on Tinder. Yep, the app.

Back in my home country, my life was basically work, dinner, and sleep. My days blurred together—long hours at the office, followed by just enough energy to make dinner, shower, and collapse into bed before doing it all over again. Meeting someone in real life? Forget it.

After months of this routine, I decided to make a change. I packed my bags and moved to Paris to continue my studies. New city, new energy… same struggle. Turns out, meeting people in Paris isn’t as romantic as the movies make it seem. People rush through the streets with earbuds in, eyes fixed ahead, always on their way somewhere. Eye contact is rare; conversations with strangers, even rarer.

So, I did something I never thought I would: I downloaded Tinder. I knew the stereotypes, of course, and part of me cringed at the idea. But then I thought: maybe, just maybe, there’s someone else out there like me—someone who isn’t looking for a fling, but something real.

And guess what? There was.

We matched, we chatted, we met for coffee… and two years later, here we are. We live together now, have met each other’s families, and I honestly can’t imagine my life without him. It still blows my mind to think that without an app on my phone, we might never have crossed paths.

Dating apps get a bad rap, but sometimes, they’re just a tool. A way to help people find each other in a world where meeting someone naturally feels harder than ever.
